I an sure Finkelstein does have a clue, about reality. He would be well aware of what we need, right now, is three coal fired power stations, installed asap.
But he is forced by political policy, Gaia policy, to sprout some other plan, which will be more costly to install and run, and be less reliable.

The best plan, is to install three new 1000MW coal, immediately.
Remove all subsidies on renewable.
Then in the cool light of day, plan what really is best for us. Engineers, not pollies.

Just as a $20,000 first home subsidy drives up the cost of the home by $20,000 (or more) the subsidies drive up the cost of the renewables.
You want renewables to be lower in price? Remove subsidies.
