A reasonable question, WC. First, I'm a former, professional remote area specialist firefighter, so I'm acquainted with the enemy. Second, I have made my preparations and intend to fight it until the bitter end. If it comes to that (house on fire) I have several safe escape routes - beach at 400 yards and golf course at 100 yards.
Some people stay and some people go according to their risk management or that inbuilt human desire to save everything they have worked for all your life. The latter a mighty strong human imperative - protect the castle at all cost.
