firewalls and remote hosts

watso mostly uses linux but activates a firewall, but has no idea what happens with that firewall.

lately watso has been using windows, and has a firewall. he knows that he needs virus thingy - but watso thinks that some bug is preventing avg from installing - but he does have adaware.

ok - back to the firewall. watso looks at the traffic logs, and there is some interaction between watso's computer, and remote hosts - but they are remote hosts that watso has had nothing to do with. watso is sure that the following sites are not in any way involved with shonky operations

watso's computer also reacts with other sites - some eg's

www.allbusiness.com
www.demandbase.com

yesterday, there was

www.hakia.com - which watso later noticed was mentioned in an article, from some other link forget the name) that appeared on watso's firwall traffic thingy - mmm - he also noticed that there was something about facebook on that page -

mmmm - are these third party cookies that are being deposited on the computer????
