I am contemplating purchasing a firewall for my computer. I trialed the "Zone Alarm Pro 4" for a couple of days, and although I thought it was good and simple to use, I found it slowed my computer down considerably. Downloading stuff from the internet is bad enough (56K dialup), but once I installed the firewall, it was way way slower.
I would like to ask those that are in the know, firstly, does having a firewall slow ones computer down when it comes to downloading, or is mine the exception? Secondly, if I am to get a firewall, is there one that stands out from the rest?
