I’ve been using some swampy sheoak over the last few years along with jarrah, red gum, black butt, malley roots, white gum and anything else that pops up.
The sheoak is good but jarrah and black butt are the best due to the low ash content, WA based.
The swampy sheoak has nice colours and lends itself to crafty stuff although it does move a lot.
The best wood is always the stuff that is easy to come by and easy to cut, preferably cut it into the right size and leave it where it falls for a year. once you get the program started you chop the wood then go to where you did it the year before and take that stuff home. Rinse and repeat the next year.
