Awoonga is right - directors of publicly listed companies are absolutely rewarded based on what they achieved rather than what is coming up. Take a look at Director bonuses on larger comanies when a company's profits for the year gone are down vs up - shareholders don't accept remuneration packages that don't reflect the bottom line.
