Well, I guess one way or another we're going to get our check to the real world - there's no going back now thank goodness.

I've got to admit here I am no technical expert. That said, the heavy hitters at GDY are, and time after time they have got the sorts of results they have been aiming for.

It's not as if they went drilling for 1000-degree rocks and found 200 degrees instead. And it's not as if they haven't added up how much it costs to build a power station, and obviously they've decided it's on and viable.

I remember at the shareholder meeting last year one of the concerns was, would we be able to get the water through the fractured granites and back to the surface. It appears now they've managed to do that at least once with the Hab wells. The water's coming up hot - good sign I'd say - and the drilling's picked up a pace.

Things can always go wrong, and it's probably wise to tread wearily when it comes to anything as bold as this. Personally though I've gone where Buffett fears to tread and backed it solidly. I'm sleeping OK because I have confidence that the team running the show is excellent, and the technical things I don't know they do.

Anyway, now I really must say do your own research - I'm only comfortable sticking my own neck out.

    Cheers all

PS: Apparently the steam in the coal-powered stations gets up beyond 1000C - I heard an anecdote from someone who used to work at the old SEC in Victoria who said one day a hose carrying this steam got loose and was flapping around at ground level. You couldn't see the steam but if you looked up at the roof you could see the paint peeling off in the direction the hose was pointing.
