First BroadbandNext Customers Connected 2 May 2008
EFTel Limited (ASX Code: EFT) announced today that it had successfully connected its first test customers to BroadbandNext, Australias newest high-speed broadband network.
Last year EFTel became the first Internet provider to announce the planned rollout of nationwide VDSL2, the next generation in high-speed broadband delivery, on a new network to be known as BroadbandNext. Prior to the ratification of VDSL2 in Australia, the Network will support other high speed broadband technologies, including ADSL2+.
The rollout is proceeding at a rate of around 15 new installations per month, with 30 exchanges now complete from an initial target of 70.
CEO Simon Ehrenfeld said he was pleased to see the project rapidly achieving its stated goals. We anticipate successful live testing to be completed within the next week or so and mass migrations to commence immediately. This is an exciting time for the whole team, and for EFTel customers.
