I am not happy either "PA" ...about the speed and time required to progress any projects in OZ... (and I have currently a serious holding in 13 companies "developing" their projects to production... sometimes I feel that only my grandchildren may see the results if companies survived eg subject to T/O by cashed up producers, etc... VMS is not an exception!

One example only: Melbourne "the most liveable city in the world" is the only one without a railway to the airport as it is in never ending planning by consecutive governments... since 1958 so 62 years already and what does this traffic does to environment, peoples health and money not mentioning stress and road accident victims?:

Melbourne Airport is located 23 kilometres (14 mi) north-west of the Melbourne City Centre adjacent to the industrial suburb of Tullamarine. In the 2016–17 financial year, 34.8 million passengers and 237,000 aircraft movements were recorded, making it the second-busiest airport in Australia by passenger numbers.[2]
According to the latest plans in progress:
The Business Case will be completed by 2020 and will assess station and procurement options, value capture and creation opportunities, and economic analysis of the recommended solution. Construction is set to begin in 2022 and will take up to nine years to complete.Jul 30, 2020

So it will take years if ever and cost $billions while the environment and people are "paying through their noses" and the only winners of this situation are: toll, parking paddocks, busses and airport operators charging ridiculous amounts...
At the same time "underdeveloped" country can built 2 new hospitals in days and dismantle them in days and able to build speed railways network in few years:

How much did China spend on high speed rail? China spent about 803 billion yuan ($116.8 billion) on railway projects and put 4,683 km of new track into operation in 2018, of which 4,100 km were for high-speed trains. As of the end of last year, the total length of China's high-speed railways rose to 29,000 km, more than two-thirds of the world's total, it said.
The leader of China got his last pay rise in 2015 by huge 62% so he now gets $22 K/pa:

However, Mr Xi's new salary of about $22,000 a year will still be far less than that of his peers. US president Barack Obama, for example, earns a base salary of $400,000 a year. The world's highest paid leader is Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, who earns $1.8m.

    Scomo' pay:
Salary. As of 1 July 2019, Australia's prime minister is paid a total salary of $549,250. This is made up of the 'base salary' received by all Members of Parliament ($211,250) plus a 160 percent 'additional salary' for the role of prime minister.

Would things improve if we paid politicians and managers more??? Have a good weekend!
