First Corrective Services site to adopt BQT’s miPASS DESFire
BQT Solutions is pleased to announce that it has secured the supply of the first DESFire site for corrective services in
Australia.
The corrective services site based in Wellington (Northern NSW) is undergoing a major upgrade of its access control system
and have opted for the DESFire technology for the card and reader solution for access control.
Phillips Mifare DESFire, initially developed for United States government, is a variation of the proven Mifare solution. It uses
Triple DES encryption and 3 pass mutual authentication on the RF transmission between the card and reader, instead of the
conventional Philips Mifare encryption.
The DESFire card implements a flexible hierarchical storage system which is more advanced than the standard Mifare sector
based system. The card contains an intelligent microprocessor which is more powerful than previous generation chips and
also has a true random number generator for increased security.
BQT Solutions was one the first organisations globally to produce a Mifare DESFire compatible device, which went through
stringent testing by NASA’s technology testing facility in Huntsville Alabama in the USA.
We at BQT Solutions are now starting to see a growing trend of organisations outside the US opting for DESFire as their
preferred option for high security access control.
BQT offers DESFire throughout its miPASS suite of products which also includes Biometric fingerprint technology.
