A great post and want to add my thanks for your generosity in sharing your research to us all here on HotCopper.
Your David and Goliath analogy is very appropriate. It is the classic underdog story but if any of you have read or listened to Malcolm Gladwell books and podcasts on revisionist history Malcolm suggests and alternate theory that appearances can be deceptive and it was in fact Goliath that was the underdog. While everyone thought Goliath would win by his size it was really David that had all the advantages while Goliath had some significant disadvantages. His theory is that Goliath by his size likely had giantism and this would have meant that he had very poor vision and he would have had great difficulty seelng David unless he was really close to him and therefore despite appearances had no chance of beating David. Whereas David was a shepherd and very practised with a sling and able to kill a wolf from a distance. So on the surface it appeared that Goliath had the size and power to win but in reality he was the underdog and David was the one with the expertise and resources to annihilate him!!
