Don't forget that most holders are aware of the impending announcement and will be anticipating it. Often it is the case that there is an initial surge in the share price and then the traders will sell into that strength.
If you are looking for a longer term investment then this is all irelevent and the share price will reflect the new stronger fundamentals over time - assuming all goes well.
