AP mentioned it already they will continue as operator from my understanding it was the push from Peter Strickland to get the Cuba block and the geos you won't find better in any oil and gas company, I'd imagine the company has a good deal of connections from the time taken and spent in Cuba as well, so from a strategy perspective it kind of makes sense to have Melbana operate particularly if they are cost conscious. Having Sonangol as a partner fixes the issue you normally have with being a operator as a small company which is Human Resources and equipment. So they can do the strategy piece and call up resources fairly rapidly from Sonangol one would imagine.

Also if they had to go to America to get finance or refinery options quickly it might actually be better for AP to wheel and deal with the Biden administration rather than Angola and Cuba as a western face / front man.

Just IMO he seems to be a pretty smooth talker lol.
