Polaris Energy Storage Network: Altura Mining produced the first lithium concentrates in the Pilgangoora project in Pilbara, Western Australia. The company transformed from a developer to a miner last week. 16 months ago, the Pilgangoora mining project officially broke ground in March 2017. After full production, the company's processing plant will produce 220,000 tons of refined lithium per year to supply the electric vehicle and static storage lithium battery market. Altura Mining's general manager, James Brown, said the company has been working on the project in strict accordance with the timetable. Brown said, “As with any project, there are some obstacles in the development of our project, but the entire team has been working tirelessly, and we are about to deliver the first lithium products.
