First Sales to New Zealand Ambulance
Medical Developments International Ltd. (ASX:MVP) today announced that it has secured the
first sales of its leading pain-relief product Penthrox to the ambulance service in New Zealand.
MVP Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Rossidis explained “this purchase is the culmination of a
lot of preparatory work by MVP, our New Zealand distributors and the ambulance service. We
believe that this will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship with St John’s Ambulance in
New Zealand, and will generate significant additional sales.�
The introduction of Penthrox to New Zealand ambulances followed a revision of clinical
protocols and a two month nation-wide training program, which was completed in October 2007.
Penthrox will be used initially in the major cities in New Zealand for first response ambulances
and at sporting events. New Zealand has a population of approximately 4.25 million.
MVP’s New Zealand agents; New Zealand Medical & Scientific, have recently introduced
Penthrox as a “first line� pain relief agent into a variety of other clinical settings, including
hospitals, aesthetic surgery, sporting events and ski fields. They have also provided continuing
product support and training to the New Zealand Defence Forces in their use of the drug.
Penthrox is used by all ambulance services in Australia for first-line pain relief where its
innovative features such as patient control, ease of use, rapid relief, and no risk of crossinfection
have made the product a permanent fixture in emergency pain relief.
