Another big benefit for marine applications is more corrosion resistance, particularly in sea water. Firms like Austal ships (based in WA) are experts in welded aluminum ship construction (particularly for defense applications - mainly in USA) where Sc based alloys should prove highly beneficial. With trump in office we should see a big increase in military expenditure and Austal provide (from their Mobile, USA factory) the new range of war ships which are welded aluminum alloy hulled catamarans.
