First step to field trials at Oban
Monday, 16 April 2007
THE Federal government has given Curnamona Energy the go-ahead to proceed with a proposed field leach trial at its Oban uranium project in South Australia, giving the company's shares a 41c boost in mid-morning trading today.
Curnamona, which is 50.6% owned by Havilah Resources, said the approval from the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Water Resources was a major advance in the approvals process.
Further authorisation is now needed from PIRSA and other local government authorities before the company can start the trials.
Curnamona chairman Bob Johnson said in the market announcement that "if the outcome of trials is positive as we expect then we will seek further environmental and other approvals from the Commonwealth Government to allow us to mine and export uranium".
"At the same time we will apply for a mining lease from the South Australian government and proceed as quickly as possible to production to take advantage of current buoyant uranium prices."
Shares in Curnamona closed up 34c on the back of the announcement on Friday to $2.69 and were up 41c to $3.10 in mid-morning trading, representing a 31% boost over the two days, before cooling slightly to $3.00
I wonder what the delay was in reporting at mining news i guess...
