I must admit I am surprised at Rudds' comments on the Australian economy as, in the early stages of this downturn, his responsible ministers - Wayne Swan and Lindsay Tanner - were extremely carefull not to talk down the economy.

But I am in total agreeement with its fiscal stimulus policy, the FULL flow on effect of which is yet to percolate through the Australian economy
