You didn't lose any capital, so did better than me in my first stab back in the early nineties!
Also, you dont have to be in the market. Maybe save up until you have a few good sized parcels to buy and diversify across - also a very good test of your FOMO resistance! If you can't see anything at a discount, don't buy. Unless you are trading, don't buy with a view to having to sell (because that is trading). I hasten to add, that doesn't mean don't ever sell!
