Correct. These tax hikes and spending cuts are going to hurt the US economy. Steve Liesman estimates 1.2% neg GDP effect.
Meanwhile debt ceiling issue unresolved and they're over the limit so Geitner has been forced to cook the books.
I suspect the market will move on how the ratings agencies spin it.
