    The man was fishing of the coast of Costa Rica and said he noticed the fish appeared "unwell" when he hauled it on to the boat.
    Footage shows the fisherman slicing into the stomach of the fish to reveal an array of plastic items and even a lighter.
    On a video uploaded online he can be seen pulling out four plastic lids, a comb and then the green lighter.

    The fish is believed to be a common dolphinfish, or mahi-mahi, which are a surface-dwelling fish found in tropical waters, The Sun reported.

    The mahi-mahi can live up to five years and typically weigh seven to 13 kilograms.

    They grow up to about a metre in length.
    The footage comes after British Prime Minister Theresa May launched a plan to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste within 25 years.

    “This plastic is ingested by dozens of species of marine mammals and over 100 species of sea birds, causing immense suffering to individual creatures and degrading vital habitats,” she said.
    “One in three fish caught in the English Channel contains pieces of plastic.”
