Firstly the electorate is in the Adelaide Hills.
So you have an area that was once rural with small service towns that has been developed over the years for housing in parts.
It's not a low socio economic area.
Some people I am acquainted with that live in the area.
Company executive recently made redundant on huge package and partner who worked in retail have raised their now grown up family there.
Their neighbours a nurse and fireman couple.
A friend who is a surgeon specialising in sports medicine.
A couple, one a University Professor and partner a medical specialist.
There are vineyards, orchards, horse agistment and other agriculture pursuits in the area.
People who need big sheds and enjoy a semi rural lifestyle reside there (e.g. self employed tradespeople and builders).
Lot's of tradespeople who work for others live there, along with public servants.

As far as the campaign goes, i don't live in the electorate but have heard it discussed on the radio.
Commentators presumed that the electorate would return to the Liberals with the passing away of the Independent representative Dr Such, who himself used to be the Liberal candidate, although one made mention of there being lots of tradespeople who make the area home so he thought it might be close.

Dr Such's wife, whilst cleaning out the electoral office met many locals offering condolences and also commenting that they wished there was an Independent they could get behind.
Around the same time a local with some political experience, having worked in the Crown law Office and having been a member of the Labor party approached Dr Such's staff asking that his widow contact him.
Mrs Such gave it some thought , contacted the prospective Independent, met him and his partner at their home for dinner and was persuaded to publicly back him, in a campaign to "Continue Bob Such's legacy".

From that point on the coverage of the election was all about personalities rather than policy, with the Liberals conducting a "Gotcha" campaign.

Saying that the Independent had taken advantage of Mrs Such in a time of grieving.
That the Independent was really a labor plant.
He was accused of glorifying war because the band that he is the drummer of used some Nazi imagery in a music clip hosted on YouTube.
They also funded and distributed a "Letter to the constituents from a self refunded retiree" without attribution to their party.

They had a go at the Labor candidate, a Ms Cook, through the way funding was awarded to a charity she helped set up.
Her son was killed at a party as a result of a king hit to the back of the head

Subsequent to his death she set up a foundation in his memory to educate about alcohol fueled violence.
Under parliamentary privilege it was alleged by the Family First member (also an ex Liberal who was dis-endorsed and ran separately), that proper process was not followed when the Government gave money to the anti-violence Sammy D Foundation

So with that stuff taking center stage in the media I'm not sure how the voters made their decisions.
There was a headline in the local paper last night that "Fisher voters were over it"
