Curious what people think re: first ASX geothermal company to produce?
My tips (in no particular order) are:
1) WAS
- MC approx $75M. More diversified than just a pure geothermal company.
- Taking a back door approach by buying and refurbishing a defunct plant and expanding from there (Iceland)
2) PAX
- MC approx $25M.
- Could possibly get Penola moving but little economic incentive even if they cross the technical hurdles
- Indonesia looking promising both in size and time to market.
3) KEN
- MC approx $5M
- Vanuatu looking promising both in size and time to market. Its only 4MW but given the 100% WI and small market capital, its a sizable project for the company.
All companies seem at least 1 year away from production. Interestingly Australia prospects sem to be a poison chalice. Companies are given grant money to develop them and end up bearing some of the costs themselves. Unfortunately the market won't pay for the end result. All roads lead overseas for now.
Dis: Hold WAS and PAXO
