I'm confused ... two years ago NetComm were preaching that they are after the M2M market of "50 billion connections and diverse equipment". Any deals under 1000 units were not worth upper management attention and given to the junior sales people. People are jumping the M2M ship (due to lack of real projects) swimming to the IoT honeypot. No word on NetComm's IoT strategy – product, not marketing spin!
What’s the real value ...
Unfortunately, I don't see any innovation, just another "me too" company.
- Over the past two years we haven't seen any significant M2M deals. Only fixed line and ISP - something they were vocally moving away from.
- The product portfolio (reflected in their newsletter) promote the same old products (see NTC-140). What else are they doing?
- Quick search on LinkedIn shows global sales people staying with the company on average less than a year - who is out there selling their solutions? I've heard of three different sales people seeing the same client in less than 6 months.
The Chinese IoT/ M2M products are coming of age, and I am already hearing of one company eating NetComm’s local profits.
Don't get me wrong 2013/14 they were building an impressive platform, but it seems marketing spin is catching up with reality.
