So according to your theory, if I catch a train and inside the carriage I get a little drone and hover it just above my head, then it should smash into the front of the carriage at whatever speed the train is moving, right? Even a tennis ball tossed up should replicate this enough to prove conclusively that atmosphere has no effect on momentum.
