Christianity did not result from the Bible. The Bible resulted from Christianity.
Yes, if there were no Bible, there would still be Christianity.
There is some level of truth to your statement, but it’s definitely a loaded one.
Consider this: without the Bible, we’d have to rely on information being handed down by word of mouth from one generation to another about who God is, what sin is, and how to gain forgiveness and redemption. The problem with that is it becomes like Chinese whispers—the message would inevitably be lost or altered without a clear instruction manual.
The only true way, without Scripture, would be to walk so closely with YHWH like the prophets of old, that His Spirit would dwell so strongly in you that He would personally guide you. That’s exactly why those prophets wrote things down—to make sure the message would be preserved so others could also walk the Way.
The real problem today with humanity and the narrow path is that many don’t want to conform or be obedient to the Word. People simply want to pick and choose a religion that suits their lifestyle. I’ll be honest: I loved getting drunk with mates, smoking weed, listening to heavy rock, dancing until sunrise, and even getting into the odd fight because I loved it. So imagine if I picked a religion that says I can still do all those things and be saved, just like Z’s mentality of "once saved always saved" – do as you like, because it doesn’t matter. Yeah, right. That is not what Scripture teaches.
Am I better for conforming to what is written and letting the Bible teach me how to be a better man and live a better life? Absolutely. As I draw closer to God, He draws closer to me. The old man of sin drops away. I gain wisdom and knowledge on how to walk in this sinful, broken world. I tune out the white noise of institutions and denominations and let His Spirit teach me and interpret Scripture.
Even Yeshua constantly pointed back to Scripture saying "It is written." Why? So that we in our humanity may know God’s character and what He asks of us. If people simply prayed and asked God to guide them when reading Scripture, and rebooted their minds from all the indoctrinations and traditions that nearly every church has adopted, I genuinely believe there would be more unity.
The issue is, many look to man for answers, not God. They run to certain preachers, denominations, or churches, and when those institutions become questionable in their faith walk, they stop listening to the Spirit and start putting their trust in sinful men.
That’s why we now have over 40,000 denominations in Christianity alone as of 2025. This is exactly why I believe so strongly in cutting out all the influential figures and institutions that try to rewrite the Bible or dictate what people should believe when it doesn’t align with Scripture. It’s like people genuinely don’t believe that God will teach them Himself, so they place themselves under human authority instead.
Whether it's the RCC, SDA, Orthodox, JW, Mormons, or any other group – they all come with their own rules and instructions on how to interpret the Bible. This removes the personal relationship we are meant to have with YHWH and places our faith in men instead of God. That’s where things become confused and truly sad.
If we could all simply stick to Sola Scriptura, much of this confusion would back off. Even on this forum, many have to run to someone else to interpret the Word for them.
Z has a list in his signature that he obviously puts on a pedestal, yet in my opinion, most of those names are wrong. Many claim the RCC is the only true church, yet they contradict Scripture. JWs, Muslims, and now this false prophet Baha’i movement are all trying to mess with Scripture and change some of the clearest instructions in the Bible.
But if you had no outside influence, no church denomination to follow, and simply found a quiet room to pray and let God’s Spirit interpret His Word, I believe most of us would be on the same page. The problem is: man wants to control man.
That’s the truth, like it or not. We can all be led astray simply by pushing aside what is clearly written..
