"I thought that Christ was put to death by crucifixion"" Yes, he died, was taken down from the Cross punctured, bleed out & dead then prepared & buried/sealed into a tomb. 3 days later His sealed & guarded tomb was found opened & He was gone. He then physically resurrected & appeared to His Apostles & other for 40 days before His ascension. Based on what we currently understand it is impossible for most to believe that those events LITERALLY occurred.
