Your error lies in saying ''based on it,'' instead of ''contributing to'' western civilization. Contributing is not the same as being the very basis or foundation of it. Far from it.
Have you heard of the classical world? Ancient Greece and its philosophers, democracy and culture? Do you think the Greeks made no contribution? What about Rome and its laws, architecture culture, etc....no contribution?
Think before making shallow assumptions in the hope of a gotcha moment.
