But I have the impression that you have a very literal belief in the Bible, that said I have picked one of the 200 verses and offered what I believe it means.
Moon has its own light.
Isaiah 13:10 - (Matthew 24:29) is similar with the same intended meaning.
For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.
I believe this is a symbolic statement regarding religious hierarchies and how they eventually become corrupt and thus corrupt religion.
The sun is the head of a church system, an example being the Pope, the moon's light is the next layer of religious authority such as the Bishops and the stars are the priests. These verses are not specifically aimed at the CC, rather religious bodies in general that over time corrupt and pervert the original tenets of belief.
By not giving their light means that the message they send out is no longer beneficial to their followers, it no longer offers a spiritual light upon the Word of God. They are teaching a false doctrine that sheds no spiritual light.
