You know, any of us could do this experiment in their own home to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth.
But first, let's do a thought experiment. That's where you run through the experiment in your head; just think about it and examine what would happen.
So- we build a house on the North Pole. Like literally with the Earth's rotational axis running through the loungeroom. Up on the ceiling is a nice solid beam that we attach a 20-kilo weight with some strong fishing line.
Mark a line on the floor from one side of the room to the other and pull the weight back along that line. As carefully as you can, release the weight so that its swing follows the chalk line you've drawn on the floor.
So- what happens now? According to flat earth theory, the pendulum will follow that same line for all eternity. But that is not what happens.
Go out for a coffee and come back an hour later. The pendulum will not be moving along the line you've drawn on the floor. The explanation is simple: the floor of the room- and the chalk line- have rotated by fifteen degrees because they're literally drawn on the surface of the spinning planet, which has rotated through fifteen degrees. The hook on the beam is still in the exact same position because it's literally smack-bang on the rotation axis of the Earth.
This is not merely theoretical. Like I said- literally anyone can setup this experiment in their loungeroom and demonstrate the rotation of the Earth.
The "flat earth" hypothesis has absolutely no explanation for this- and that counts it out straight away because as well all know, a scientific theory must account for all of the facts- not just some of them.
