In case it hasn't already been said here, the other thing to note is that for about half the year at the North pole there is no sunlight, and the other half of the year it's sunlit all hours. At the same time the South pole experiences the opposite. That alone disproves the flat earth notion where the sun appears only at certain parts of the earth at any given time during a 24-hour period.
