What produces something that doesn't exist in potential?
I don't know, but staying with the general theme, absolute nothingness is not possible, absolute non-existence does not have the capacity to attain existence, so if something became what we deem to be our physical reality today then our reality, including us has eternally existed in potential.
The question that then arises. Does physical reality require an Author / Director / Causer / God. I don't know, but I can not conceive of a self-causing universe requiring such extraordinary exactitudes, capable of causing and regulating itself, limiting itself and producing a foundational life-form capable of chemical computation able to write a blueprint to every form of life that will ever exist, the spontaneous emergence of said life-form from non-life, or human consciousness arising out of unconsciousness. These are mysteries beyond me, but I see the need for a Causer.
If indeed existence arising from absolute non-existence is not possible, and I can find nothing that suggests it is, then an eternal state is the only reality and God therefore needs no cause. This also suggests that physical reality is without beginning or end, but because no capacity to self-organise, regulate, or limit itself is found in nature external it it nature, it therefore requires an external Organiser, Causer, Director, God outside of nature and physical reality itself, otherwise we have a self-causing system and once again that seems to defy logic, reason and known science.
Materialistic science? Are there forms of science?
There are forms of science in the sense that some scientists see the revelations of science making some unknowable form of God an obvious conclusion and other scientists seeing science as potentially answering those questions that are as yet resistant to answers via a materialistic process not requiring any kind of Authorship.
