The theme in 1 Cor 15 and especially when you get to around verse 50, it appears the be speaking of a literal resurrection of the dead, in some form.
So, the overall theme, seems to suggest this.
Hence the other point, why would Paul be trying to comfort those, who had already lost loved ones in Christ, and simply not just say, cool guys lol, they are already there in some form, if that the latter is what you believe?
