Absolutely it is the presence of sin that has removed the ability for the church to be a speaker on behalf of the Holy Spirit from here on in.
The Word of God must be given through a sinless vehicle. When the church becomes a vehicle for sin then the spirit of truth guides us to all truth through a Manifestation of God. This is Bahai teaching.
Church teaching seems to indicate that no matter how much sin is present in the church, it still is a vehicle for the word of God. How can you trust what such a vehicle speaks when it is harbouring and hiding sinful elements within its body?
