Current production is from the Warrior Mine, 5 ikm southeast of Charters Towers city. Half the resources are actually under the city itself according to their ore reserves report, in the Brilliant and Sunburst mine areas. In their last Quarterly, the company stated that Sunburst is the subject of joint venture negotiations to raise the finance to access it.
Warrior is scheduled to produce 40,000 ounces, so that if their profit margin is A$400 per ounce (costs of A$400 and gold price of A$800/oz), Warrior will generate A$16 million, and could fund Sunburst over two to three years. A JV would fund it this year, taking advantage of the current high gold price.
Warrior was shallower, cheaper and easier to access than Sunburst, but they have already mined part of the way to Brilliant and Sunburst - the central Decline from their Nagle Street location goes 1.6km horizontally and 238m vertically towards the main prize under the city.
They have commenced mine planning for Sunburst according to the last Quarterly.
