Renee - they do sound sour. Maybe it goes back before Bendigo, to the nickel boom of the 1970s. Pierpont dislked old Jim Lynch with a passion - Jim floated Laverton Nickel in 1968 - 10 cent shares opened on the day at $3 and went as high as $8.50, and Pierpont in his book "The Money Miners" credited this as "one of the most successful floats of the year".
Somewhere along the line Pierpont developed a dislike of Jim. When Jim died two years ago (fell off a roof at the age of 87), Pierpont admitted he had lost a great source of material for his column, but did graciously extend his condolences to Jim's family.
Jim was never a Director of CTO at any time (being over 70 when the company floated) but pierpont always hinted that somehow he was involved in the company management.
Well, unless the MD is using a ouija board, Jim's influence died out two years ago.
It's a whole new company now.
