The Service Area Working Committee of the China Highway Society announced the 2022 National Expressway Service Area Innovation and Application Achievement List. The expressway decentralized intelligent complete sewage treatment system of Xiecheng Environmental Protection Company, a subsidiary of Hubei Jiaotong Intelligent Testing Company, won the "National Top Ten Innovations in Expressway Service Areas" Application Achievement" honorary title.

The sewage treatment system used by Xiecheng Environmental Protection Company in 125 sites is a product of the Fluence AspiraTM series. It can be flexibly designed and installed with membranes according to the actual water inflow and outflow requirements, and can stably meet the standard when treating high-concentration sewage in the service area. In the service area, where people, vehicles, and objects gather, and a large amount of food waste and oil pollution are difficult to deal with, MABR’s efficient and stable simultaneous nitrification and denitrification process enables simultaneous removal of COD, total nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, and total phosphorus in one reactor, completing efficient total removal Nitrogen, and reduce the total energy consumption by up to 50%. The treated effluent meets the first-level A standard of the "Pollutant Discharge Standards for Urban Sewage Treatment Plants" (GB18918-2002), and can be used as green watering and grounds in the service area. It is an important measure to achieve the "double carbon target" by reducing the overall carbon emissions of the industry and realizing recycling and resource recovery.

In 2018, Fluence established a strategic partnership with Xiecheng Environmental Protection Company, a subsidiary of Hubei Jiaotou Intelligent Testing Company, and took the lead in piloting the world's leading MABR technology distributed sewage treatment system in the high-speed service area, realizing one-key intelligent treatment of sewage and real-time monitoring of sewage treatment and remote monitoring to solve the problems of low compliance rate of sewage treatment in the auxiliary area of the expressway, equipment failure caused by high-load operation, short life, and large labor investment. The AspiralTM product range offers a variety of models and configurations, with capacities starting from 20 m3/day depending on effluent discharge requirements. Several containers can be connected in parallel to treat a large amount of sewage. At the same time, decentralized treatment can save the cost of configuring infrastructure, especially for remote areas.

The system has been put into use in 125 stations such as expressway service areas, parking areas, and toll stations, and 143 sets of equipment systems have been put into use, creating a cumulative output value of about 300 million yuan, and achieving the standard treatment and reuse of more than 15,000 tons of sewage every day , can reduce about 4,500 tons of chemical oxygen demand and about 670 tons of ammonia nitrogen emissions every year, and increase the "green content" of the Hubei Expressway service area.
