The commissioning of the project marks the successful entry of Zheneng Group's environmental protection business into the nuclear power industry, which is of great significance to the Group's further expansion of the energy and environmental protection market, the development of diversified business formats, and the enhancement of core competitiveness.

The non-discharge wastewater treatment project of Zheneng Group Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant has a designed daily treatment capacity of 700 tons and a maximum daily treatment capacity of over 3,000 tons.

Compared with the traditional coal power industry, wastewater treatment in the nuclear power industry has higher requirements in terms of implementation standards, performance indicators, and management specifications, and the safety, reliability, and advancement of technology are particularly important.

The project was contracted and constructed by Tiandi Environmental Protection Company, a subsidiary of Zheneng Energy, and will officially start construction on May 4, 2022.

A member of the Tiandi Environmental Protection Qinshan Nuclear Power Project team introduced that in order to determine a mature and reliable technical route that takes into account both technological advancement and economical efficiency, the team rushed to Qinshan Nuclear Power for many times for docking, fully understood the project requirements, and after repeated demonstrations, comparisons and optimizations, finally To determine the technical solution, use Fluence's SUBRE submerged MABR (aerated membrane bioreactor) technology.

Fluence's MABR technology is an innovative, well-proven, low-energy wastewater treatment technology.

It provides diffuse aeration to the wastewater treatment process through a spiral wound, self-breathing membrane jacket. The spiral membrane module is the core of the bioreactor, which can simultaneously remove BOD, total nitrogen and total phosphorus when the sewage flows through.

In this project, through the application of MABR technology, the main water pollutants such as ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus in the production wastewater of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant were successfully controlled, and the discharged water reached the first-class standard. At the same time, the treated wastewater can also be used for other purposes such as irrigation water , saving fresh water resources , has very significant environmental protection and economic benefits.

Since the start of the project construction, Tiandi Environmental Protection Company has fully considered the particularity of the nuclear power system, actively overcome multiple difficulties, ensured the safe and efficient completion of the project construction task, and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent deepening of the environmental protection market in the nuclear power field.
