Hi Bridog. We have asked Richard many times about IP protection over the years. Any foreign enterprise like FLC that goes into China must expect to be copied and be prepared to protect your IP. So I don't think this issue is something out of the blue. To not protect your IP is foolishness. For me, if FLC has sold 281 plants, they would be copied by now. Yet, it speaks volumes to see notable national SOEs like 3 Gorges, China Rail etc have chosen to work with FLC.
Now we have BEWG. BEWG (https://www.bewg.net/en/tzzgx/) is a behemoth, the biggest SOE player in China. If BEWG wants to steal the IP, all they need to do is buy a few SUBREs and Aspirals models, strip it apart and reverse engineer it. They have the means, the know how, the capital, definitely the brains. Given time, they would have come out with a few MABR models themselves, brand it BEWG MABR, as they have done with MBR, and leave FLC out in the cold.
Yet, we have to ask why BEWG and FLC have decided to come together in an agreement. What value do they see in FLC? After all, FLC is really, really very small and a nobody in China. Or is there something we are not noticing?
