Singapore does not have this kind of comprehensive government assistance plans for SMEs for S'pore companies in China. Israel beats us hands down! We are trying to learn from the Israeli's but we are not even close. For one, Singapore just cannot get the ecosystem up and running to be a start up nation. We don't have a culture that accepts failure well at all.

But Singapore is good at reverse engineering, not ground breaking research. We are good at applied engineering, taking someone else's research and products like MABR and customizing it for the local market. Our education system just does not foster an environment for conducting primary R&D that Israel, the start up nation, is known for.

However, the Israeli and Singaporean combination that we see in FLC is the best put together plan, whether it was accidental or planned. It is a potent combination because Israel knows where Singapore's strengths are. Singapore is culturally similar to the Chinese. We are able to straddle between East and West. Israel and Singapore has a lot of similarities: both of us are small nation states, at the cross roads of the geopolitical East and West, trying to be friends with the Americans and China at the same time. We are also multi-racial, multilingual and surrounded by hostile neighbors. By necessity, our citizen army and our military structure is modeled after theirs.

To sum it up, this is why I am invested in FLC. FLC has the kind of kind of business that exploits both countries' strengths. Top it off, both nations know the importance of water to our existence.Together, they can benefit many nations around the world.
