You are correct, I'm against nuclear mainly because of my close experience with the dangers that uranium mines can pose.
Regarding the submarine issue I'm concerned that it's a foot in the door for the introduction to nuclear power in Australia. By the time the subs are built There'll be plenty of hydrogen/fuel cell electric ships and that tech would be quieter than nuke subs, which are actually quite noisy because the nuclear reactor can't be shut off, like you can with hydrogen
