Mango, I have been a co-writer/editor of several successful ARC Linkage grants and I can assure you that the assessors are a very conservative bunch and if an application included bold predictions of research success before the research was even done, the application would be thrown out! The application has to present achievable objectives in a worthwhile field of endeavor - both scientific and potentially commercial.
