It's my understanding that the $7 trillion dollars of investment takes the form of a promise by a politician. Some of it possibly has the backing of press releases from corporations/business leaders who support that politician or seek to curry favour with him. But I don't think it is real investment. Likewise, the claims of misappropriation must also be seen as politically inspired claims. We await more verifiable, concrete results to see what effects those actions have had.
As for patriotism, it would appear to me that it is unpatriotic for an Australian to support policies by foreign nations which exploit and economically attack our own country. Trump's "liberation day" is Australia's bondage day.
