Given America's total dependence on China's supply of critical processed rare earths essential for electronic and military technologies, and given China has, understandably and predictably just banned its rare earth etc exports to America, what happens next? Is it disrespectful to suggest that Trump is now arguably proudly wearing the economic dunce's cap given his punishing 145% tariff regime on Chinese imports?
Fortunately, our beloved Fortescue should be immune from any Chinese revenge strategies given our decarbonising technologies emanate from Germany, England, Sweden etc.It feels like Mission Impossible to predict IO prices impacts, because China may inject massive capital into its economy.
How long before we witness a screeching Trump/American economic tariff/policy U-turn?.....Will the Trump tariff policies go down as the most demonstrable example of economic shooting yaself in the foot in history?
How will we, Fortescue investors be impacted? Maybe minimally?.....Hope so!....Will a punishing world recession ensue?......or will the gullible American poor who voted for Trump be the most negatively impacted? .....I sincerely hope my prophecies of doom are proven to be incorrect.
Am I being unnecessary harsh?....Time will tell......At the moment, chaos seems imminent.....maybe Trump will be able to activate the parachute and overcome the rare earth issue. It's hard to believe he would so dumb as not to have some kinda rare earth's contingency Plan B ready to counter with.
