The one man I listen to is Mike Pezzullo - he is one of the few people who says it as it is and has a deep understanding of the challenges. I agree as he points out our young people will step up if needed but to step up is one thing -far better to be prepared than be slaughtered on the front line because you weren't prepared.
As for figures on defence spending of course they are just that but you are stupid if you listen to dyed in the wool Generals - Air Vice Marshalls and Admirals. I think you actually get it by refering to drones and modern warfare but you lost it by referring to all your experts again -the aforesaid Defence heirarchy. They are just like all the European and UK defence heirachy with their aircraft carriers - tanks - ships all sitting ducks for a $500 drone. As Hegseth said the other day China could wipe out ten US aircraft carriers in 20 minutes with their hypersonic missiles.

I agree on all the points you made except your continual reliance on experts - they might be experts in what they believe is modern warfare but the whole damn lot of them have been caught with their pants down and we are all woefully unprepared in terms of modern warfare capability.
