Hayman - generally speaking shares rise before ex dividend and with the expectation that iron ore price will rise then it is likely that the SP will rise ex dividend. This is of course no certainty and one can only make assumptions based on historical patterns, if only we all knew the movements of shares we would all be millionaires.

fitrmansam - how many shares to accumulate ? I'm trying to get to 30,000 by retirement without selling... if I only get a buck each dividend payment that'll see me earn $60,000 annually without headaches. When I compare this to rental property investment which has repairs, maintenance, finding tenants, rates, insurance, stamp duty, renters not paying etc etc I see this way of earning money alot easier and with way less headaches.
