    ”seemingly zero barriers to entry”

How about funding, construction and commissioning a Spodumene plant. Decent barrier.

Hydroxide plant. Ask ALB, Tianqi, IGO how their new plants are running.

Same with brine. Have to get it past all the environmental
permitting which has stepped up a notch of recent times. Then partner with Codalco, then build the ponds and wait a couple of years before production is ramped.

DLE, hasn’t been done at scale yet and with current prices, probably won’t happen.

No barriers for African artisanal miners though. Just dig some rock and sell it to those Chinese companies who will do the bare minimum to appease the corrupt Zimbabwe president and ship it to China. The barrier is the lack of infrastructure to large scale mine and process which is why Xi Jinping is promising billions to help them out.

Anyway, the point of your post is?

The barrier now is investment funds which have dried up rapidly, with only a few of the cashed up incumbents willing to expand. That would be PLS in that group. Yippy, deja vu.
