The benchmark iron ore price fell 5% overnight to US$120.85 a tonne. FMG, BHP, RIO and a lot of others all down today. FMG report due tomorrow. Consensus estimates (see COMMSEC) indicate a fully franked dividend of AUD$0.91 will be announced. FMG is in a short term down trend since the ATH on the 2nd Feb 2024. Unless there are some pleasant earnings surprises in the report, I suspect we've seen the top for a few months at least. Incidentally the ASX200 is down and Woolworths is down nearly 9% so the gloom is certainly not restricted to the miners.
