Unless I'm wrong you have to hold for 45 days after the dividend is paid to claim the franking credits for tax purposes. It doesn't mater when you bought them, that is only a concern regarding capital gains tax, 50% if held less than a year and 25% if held longer when you sell for a profit. .And just be aware that the ATO is reported to when you buy and sell shares and will want to know how much you bought and sold for, no escaping them unfortunately
