I am not a lawyer, but I think the idea is that if you own it you own it, you don't have to live in it. On the other hand, your proposal could have some merit, maybe Gina Rinehart should only own Lang's house, and the government can confiscate the rest of the family fortune and rent it to someone else.
Or perhaps, to help Fortescue win the case and avoid paying up, all us shareholders can move and live there instead of our own million dollar mansions.
